Video advertising has come a long way since the black-and-white era.To understand video advertising, first we need its history and its evolution. 1941, was the first year in which advertisements aired on television. The TV commercials first appeared on television channels in USA and were ten seconds long. This is a great start to the next advertising journey. Then, jump into 1960s is the golden age of TV commercials. In this year, commercials are used for everything, from essential consumer goods to automobiles. The next phase is the emersion of YouTube as an online platform and is a contemporary medium that is strategic enough to serve an advertisement. After five years from the Youtube launching, there’s a lot of social media platforms which can be used to carry out various marketing strategies, one of which is ad serving. The most hype social media to serve an ads are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, Whatsapp, and etc. Then, in the present, video advertising or Digital Video Commercial (DVC), has become the most engaging way of reaching out to audience through different mediums. Not only television as a platform, social media is the better choice to serve an ads. Most recently, even advertisements can now be shown in cinemas, aired before the film is shown in theaters.
